Oh yeah it’s Monday so you know what that means….side dishes from Sunday Steak Night. I’m really trying not to turn that into a regular thing, but I’m trying hard to try new side dishes then our regulars. Anyway this is an inspiration from a meal we had at a fancy steak house. I love the whipped potatoes that are full of flavor yet so like and fluffy like air. The bonus is this doesn’t cost me over $5 per side dish! Hubby likes the real thing and not instant potatoes so I have to work a little harder from scratch instead of cheating and mixing it up. It really doesn’t take that long and I was able to prep earlier in the day and just let the potatoes sit in the water until I was ready to boil them.
Garlic Whipped Mashed Potatoes
3 baking potatoes
1/2 cup whipping cream
2 tablespoons butter
salt and pepper to taste (I used white pepper to keep it silky white)
1 pod of rosted garlic, chopped (this is to taste depending on the size of pod you buy and how much garlic flavor you want)
Peel and chop potatoes and place in a pot of water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender.

Drain and add cream, butter and seasoning.

Whip with an electric mixer until potatoes are light and airy and all lumps are gone.

Toss in garlic and combine.

Serve hot.
