Shannen Tune, owner and operator of Craft Burger Food Truck in Houston recently opened up Craft Burger in Katy, Texas. Prior to launching Craft Burger Food Truck in 2015, Tune, a winner of the Food Network TV show contest Chopped, worked in the kitchens of some of the country’s top luxury hotels in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Austin, and Houston. I love when chefs tell you about all their locally sourced ingredients and how everything is homemade in their restaurant. You could really taste the quality.

My son got a kick to finally meeting a local celerity and chit chatting with him for a while.

We loved the inside décor capturing Houston and Katy in 2 wall murals. The colors are bright and inviting.

Classic Burger $7.75 My son likes is a burger judger and has an excellent palate. He ranks this burger in his top 3 which I have to agree. I also snapped a picture of the cheeseburger.

Truffle Butter Juicy Lucy $15 (Truffle butter, smoked gouda, white cheddar cheese curds, lettuce, tomatoes, truffle mayo) I’m a sucker for truffle. When I heard he uses REAL truffles and not the flavor add ins I was sold. It’s sooooo juicy I’m pretty sure they had to refill their napkin holder after I left, but omg finger…licking…good! You see that juice running down my thumb? That’s just from picking it up.

French Fries $3.75 are hand cut and dusted with Craft Brother’s Seasoning and simply put – really good. (I forgot to take a picture.) Sweet Potato Fries $3.75 Hand cut potatoes with chili and brown sugar rub. Also really good you can’t go wrong!

Beer Battered Onion Rings $5 These where our favorite! I love a perfect onion ring that holds it’s shape and cooked through so it’s tender.

Alright on to the dessert. Are you in a food coma yet or ready for more? My son got the Chocolate S’more $5 (vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, graham cracker crumbles and marshmallow syrup). I got the Maple Bacon Bourbon $5 (vanilla ice cream, maple syrup, bourbon extract, candied bacon sprinkles). We loved them both, but let me tell you that real bacon candied really set the shake to another level. These shakes with smooth and flavorful and perfect like the old time shakes I remember as a kid. Elevated flavors to keep up with modern times of course, but oooo so good!

Will I be back? YES there’s a morning after burger calling my name not to mention a few other items on the menu that has caught my attention.
