My son is in second grade this year which means he’s full on reading books that are no longer picture books which makes me excited with his school fundraiser going on right now a Read-A-Thon!! How cool is that encouraging kids to read while raising money?! It was perfect timing getting 2 new books in from author Rebecca Massey, she has a line of books which you can find more info on HERE.
Right now he’s reading COLTON’S POCKET DRAGON Book 12: Haunted House (find it on Amazon HERE). He hasn’t put it down and reads every chance he gets before dinner or in between his online schooling.
We also got Colton’s Time Machine: Book 4: Betsy Ross, Mount Rushmore, and the Statue of Liberty (find it HERE on Amazon). While he hasn’t learned about this in school yet, he does know what these monuments are. I’m all about sneaking in some education. It’s just like cooking and adding some extra veggies. I loved that she explained the 12 folds of the American flag. Something that pulls at my heart strings remembering my grandfather who fought in WW2. I love that it opens up dialog about our family history along with America’s history, Especially in times like today where they are trying to cover events that happened in history.
I especially love the creativity and sense of adventure which is not restricted to an age! These particular books are geared to 5-9 year old’s, but they are easy readers and grab your attention and enjoyable at any age. The books can be found on Amazon and most book stores, be sure to track them down they are worth a read! I also love that they have some pictures to help your imagination run wild. The print is also a nice size. Perfect for the holiday season upon us. I’ll be ordering more of the series, which I love that there are so many to continue reading on the same path!
