I love chocolate martinis, so this recipe really stuck out to me and screamed try me. I recently received a copy of David Venable’s new book Back Around The Table (Click HERE to order your copy on Amazon) and I am in love with it. There’s a nice variety of recipes and they are all easy for any home cook to make.

You might be thinking I tested an easy cocktail out of the book, but I chose this recipe to test and share, because I wanted to share 3 awesome things I learned.

Be sure to take the extra step and pop in you local liquor store to find the Adult Chocolate Milk with contains alcohol in it. I also tested the recipe with regular chocolate milk and it’s just as delicious, but it won’t be a stronger martini.

The other really neat thing I learned is evenly cooking a marshmallow in a skillet. I really never thought of doing this and I really like how I got a nice even coloring on the marshmallow. For those with an eclectic range this gets a nice coating without having to torch anything.

The last thing I wanted to share was once you put the chocolate on the glass, you freeze it this keeps your design on the glass without it sliding down the side when you pour the liquid in. Again it’s a simple thing, but I could never figure out why my glasses never looked as pretty as the books and in bars.

S’mores Martinis

(Adapted from Back Around the Table by David Venable)

Printer Friendly Version

1/4 cup chocolate syrup

2 graham crackers, finely crushed

2 marshmallows

1/4 cup marshmallow vodka

1/4 cup Adult Chocolate Milk

1/4 cup heavy cream

Put 3 tablespoons of the chocolate syrup on a small plate. Place the crushed graham crackers on another small plate. Dip the rims of two martini glasses in the chocolate syrup, then dip the rims into the graham cracker crumbs. Quickly turn the martini glasses right side up and drizzle the remaining 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup in a spiral design on the insides of the glasses. Put the glasses in the freezer for 1 hour to let the chocolate harden.

Remove the glasses from the freezer. Heat a small nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Put each marshmallow on the end of a skewer. Place the skewers in the skillet with a flat side of the marshmallows facing down, until the marshmallows turn golden, about 45 seconds. Remove the skewered marshmallows from the pan and, using the tines of a fork, push 1 marshmallow into each glass.

Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice, half of the marshmallow vodka, half of the adult chocolate milk, and half of the cream. Shake well and strain the mixture into one of the glasses. Repeat for the second drink.
