Forget the cookie exchange, host a Chex Party Mix-Change! Don’t get me wrong I love cookies, but how about trying something new this year? This is a great idea for a cocktail party, because we all love snacking while enjoying a cocktail. The cool part is there’s so many different ways you can go with this idea from sweet to savory.
Usually my mom makes my hubby a batch of the original mix every year. He loves hers better then mine and I do the same recipe! It’s very addicting.

I love that they have several ideas on the back of their box too!
I tried the Hot Buttered Yum recipe for part of my gift baskets. The only part I messed up was instead of just tossing in the marshmallows I kept stirring until they where melted. You have to break them up if you do that, but otherwise this tasted exactly like the drink!
Hot Buttered Yum Chex® Mix
(Adapted from Chex®)
4 cups Honey Nut Chex
2 cups Cinnamon Chex
¼ cup butter, cubbed
¼ cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon rum extract
¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
¼ teaspoon ground cloves
2 cups miniature marshmallows
In a large microwave safe bowl, combine cereals; set aside.
In a small microwave safe bowl, combine the butter, brown sugar and honey. Microwave, uncovered, on high for 2 minutes, stirring once.
Stir in the extract and spices; pour over cereal mixture and toss to coat.
Cook, uncovered, on high for 3 minutes, stirring after each minute. Let cool slightly. Stir in marshmallows, spread onto waxed paper to cool completely. Store the mix in an airtight container.
